Marquee Wedding Tillington, nr Petworth and The Church at Tillington

Tillington Church, located in West Sussex, is a fine example of English ecclesiastical architecture steeped in history. The church dates back to the medieval period, with origins tracing to the 12th century, reflecting the Norman influence prevalent during that era. Over the centuries, it has undergone various restorations and additions, carefully preserving its historic character while adapting to contemporary needs.

Constructed primarily from local sandstone, the church features a traditional nave and chancel layout typical of rural parish churches. Notable architectural elements include its lancet windows, a modest bell turret, and remnants of original stonework that testify to its enduring legacy. The interior retains several period features, such as ancient wooden pews and a carved font, underscoring its significance as a place of worship and community gathering for generations.

Tillington Church holds an important position within the local heritage, not only for its architectural value but also for its role in the spiritual and social life of the village. Its peaceful countryside setting enhances its romantic charm, making it a beautiful and meaningful location for wedding photography, capturing authentic moments that reflect both history and heartfelt celebration. Its a very popular wedding church and it is opposite the The Horseguards Pub - so very convenient for a drink before hand. I have photographed inside the pub as the wedding party gather before going over to the church…. It makes a beautiful setting. Many local barn weddings have Tillington church to begin their vows in…then on to say Grittenham or Fitzleroi in Fittleworth,

My couple went to a private estate for their Marquee wedding they found me on the recommended supplier page at Grittenham barn

The Marquee was in fact a Stretch tent which meant we could enjoy the views accross the hillsides, It was a very warm summer wedding - and nice and calm and relaxed. Nothing formal, just a party atmosphere and a swimming pool…..
