GRAVETYE MANOR
Rachel and James - My beautiful couple chose to get married in one of the most romantic venues in Surrey, Rachels mother and father had also held there wedding here so the venue had a special history for the family. I was so excited to visit this venue - come rain or shine I knew it would be special…
- Gravetye manor is a stunning Manor house renowned for its beautiful gardens. There wedding date was Feb 18th 2022, so we knew the gardens wouldn’t be bursting with summer blooms However we were all looking forward to a stroll in the gardens to capture some of the romance and elegance of this amazing venue. Unbenownest to any of us when we were busily putting plans together - we were going to encounter an uninvited guest to the day - in the form of Storm Eunice! - I have to say when i was considering leaving my cosy home I wasnt quite sure what to expect from the day….
I left three times as much time as I needed to get to Rachels parents home, and flying trees, road closures, and an overturned lorry, debris like you wouldn’t believe were all pretty quite extreme obstacles to overcome. Somehow I reached my goal….I have to say a tiny bit relieved…..Everyone was so calm and relaxed, it was quite amusing to me as I felt I had just completed a Challenge Anneka trial, and yet here all the lovely ladies were pottering around in their pyjamas, drinking tea….. It was so perfect. We knew the storm would subside in intensity and by the time we left for Gravetye it was all a bit more straightforward than before
Arriving at Gravetye was like being invited into a sea of calm and efficiency. I think some guests had also had some difficulties getting to the venue, but once we were all there, we were so welcomed and treated so nicely , it was so reassuring. Nothing was too much trouble - everything was overseen and taken care of…
The ceremony took place in the beautiful Hall. It was a tender and gentle ceremony, Afterwards there were drinks and canapes held in the main drawing room and I was really pleased that the bride and groom wanted a few pictures outside - come what may- as rachel put it “its all part of the day”……..
